Don’t let its simple stick figure look fool you, this is an odd, funny, and extremely worthwhile gem of an adventure worth your time
It’s with great pleasure that I can now finally say I’ve played a game I’ve heard so many things about, but just had never had the opportunity to check out. Even better, West of Loathing does a superb job of living up to its hype… something not every game I’ve encountered that has gotten praise can claim. For the uninitiated, don’t let its simple stick figure look fool you, this is a wild ride full of outstandingly funny dialogue and situations that generally plays as smooth as a baby’s bottom, which isn’t always true of adventure-style games with turn-based RPG-esque combat and character management. Areas are kept pretty small so you won’t need to wander too much to find what you need, though there are some leaps you’ll need to make in order to take advantage of every opportunity presented to you. Strange, often silly, and thoroughly different, this is a highly-enjoyable gem on the eShop.
