Where to even begin, this game is a tedious and buggy mess with clunky controls to boot
I must admit that simply reflecting on the fact that this game has shown up in early 2023 with 2021 in its title I was already pretty prepared for the worst. The fact that, in general, these mechanic sorts of simulators have always felt odd to me, reproducing the dull minutia of pulling off and dealing with each individual part, didn’t help either. For the most part, the results were as expected, with me spending far too much time to accomplish too little and never really being entertained… though I suppose if I was a gearhead or wanted to be one perhaps this could be somehow instructive at least as a potential positive. Of course it doesn’t help that the controls are plain clunky, and in the case of the joysticks I’d argue they’re backwards since you’re controlling the camera with the left stick and your movement control is on the right… completely ignoring typical norms and further harming the experience. All that said, where I was finally entertained (for all the wrong reasons), was when I took a ride on the bike I’d been working on to check it out. Oh man, the bugginess, inconsistent clipping, turn radius worse than a school bus, and unintentional hilarity that periodically offers. Let’s be real here, if you put an open shipping container on an angle it looks like an opportunity to jump, so I immediately went in that direction. Imagine my surprise when I clipped through the entire thing. Oh man, what a trainwreck.
