Overly simplistic, and really lacking anywhere of note to go as you progress, this falls completely flat

While a few generations ago extreme sports titles had quite a good run, as time had gone by their popularity has certainly waned. Thankfully, if you were a fan of titles involving skateboarding, snowboarding, or BMX biking in some way the good news is that there seems to be at least a small resurgence of them lately, but as always not every one of them will be a winner.

Legends BMX, right out of the gate, doesn’t make the best impression. If you’ve grown used to using real-life athletes, people from the scene, or even characters who look vaguely like they could be enthusiasts of the sport, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Instead, you’ll get a vaguely generic and representative bunch of riders who look like they were randomly pulled off the street. Somewhat similarly, even your ride will just change colors, and of course you’ll need to play first and earn the right to simply make your bike a little more sparkly or ride as a dude in a chicken outfit.

If you were hoping that the gameplay side of the fence would make up for these shortcomings on the visual side, you’ll also likely be let down. This is a strictly trick-focused affair with you either simply performing stunts randomly in Free Ride or choosing to take on a Time Attack, which plays identically but has a limited clock. The good news is that at least the tricks are generally simple to pull off, simply using the left and right stick to control your flips and stunts, and then a shoulder button to grind. The bad news is that the game really never changes or gets more interesting, you’ll be stuck in variations on the exact same setup with only more unlocks and trying to place on the leaderboards as your incentive. If somehow that limited scope of things to do sounds appealing, that’s great, but for most people this is something you’ll want to skip.
